There's Nothing Scary about being Safe

Halloween is a time of fun and excitement, but it also brings some unique safety concerns for all goblins and ghouls, that can put a damper on even the scariest monsters' festivities. With children being twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween compared to any other day of the year, it’s essential to take extra precautions. Low visibility, crowded streets, and unpredictable weather can all contribute to these risks, so being prepared and armed with safety tips is key!
To keep both kids and adults safe while enjoying trick-or-treating, consider arming everyone with flashlights and reflective clothing. This helps ensure visibility for both the trick-or-treaters and drivers. Additionally, choosing fire-resistant costumes, wigs, and accessories can prevent any accidental mishaps while the children are out and about. When it comes to makeup, opting for non-toxic options can help avoid skin irritations or allergic reactions that might put a damper on the fun. No matter how tired your pumpkin is at the end of the night, removing any makeup or accessories removes the hazard of eye and skin irritants that could pop up. Making sure to keep an eye on the weather in your local area are dressing appropriately can avoid any unnecessary illnesses.
These days, it's always best practice to have younger children accompanied by an adult during their trick-or-treating adventures. Sticking to familiar neighborhoods with familiar faces makes for a safer holiday. For older kids heading out on their own, make sure they have a cell phone and have agreed on a specific time and meeting spot to regroup. Remind them that they should never walk alone, enter anyone's home, or get in the car with any friends or family members who have been drinking. As always, checking candies and treat bags before consumption can ensure there will be no tricks in your treats.
Happy Halloween!
